Human and Animal Rights

The International Journal of Clinical Studies and Medical Research (IJCSMR) is committed to promoting ethical research involving human participants and animals. The journal requires that all submitted manuscripts comply with internationally recognized ethical standards and follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

Research Involving Human Participants

Research involving human participants must be conducted in accordance with internationally accepted ethical principles, including the Declaration of Helsinki and applicable national or institutional regulations.

Authors must ensure that:

  • Ethical approval was obtained from a recognized Institutional Review Board (IRB), Ethics Committee, or equivalent body before the study commenced.
  • The name of the approving ethics committee, approval number (where applicable), and approval date are clearly stated in the manuscript.
  • The rights, dignity, privacy, and welfare of participants are fully protected throughout the study.
  • Research involving vulnerable populations is conducted with additional ethical safeguards.

Informed Consent

Authors must confirm that informed consent was obtained from all participants before their inclusion in the study.

For studies involving:

  • Clinical photographs or identifiable information, written informed consent for publication must be obtained.
  • Minors or individuals unable to provide consent, permission must be obtained from a parent, legal guardian, or legally authorized representative.

Authors may be asked to provide evidence of informed consent during the editorial process.

Protection of Privacy and Confidentiality

Authors must protect participants' confidentiality by removing or anonymizing personally identifiable information unless explicit written consent for publication has been obtained.

Editors may request modifications if patient privacy is not adequately protected.

Clinical Trials

Clinical trials should be registered in a publicly accessible clinical trial registry before the enrollment of the first participant, where applicable.

The trial registration number and registry name should be included in the manuscript.

Research Involving Animals

Studies involving animals must comply with internationally accepted standards for the ethical care and use of laboratory animals and relevant national regulations.

Authors must confirm that:

  • The study received approval from an appropriate Animal Ethics Committee or Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) or equivalent authority.
  • Animal welfare was prioritized throughout the research.
  • Pain, suffering, and distress were minimized.
  • Appropriate anesthesia, analgesia, and humane endpoints were used whenever necessary.

The manuscript should include the name of the approving committee and the ethical approval reference number, where applicable.

Ethical Approval Statement

All manuscripts involving human participants or animals must include a dedicated Ethics Statement specifying:

  • The approving ethics committee or institutional review board.
  • Approval number or reference (if available).
  • Confirmation of informed consent (where applicable).
  • Compliance with relevant ethical guidelines and regulations.

Manuscripts lacking appropriate ethical approval may be returned to the authors or rejected.

Editorial Assessment

During editorial screening, the Editorial Office may request:

  • Ethics approval letters.
  • Informed consent documentation.
  • Trial registration details.
  • Additional clarification regarding ethical compliance.

Failure to provide satisfactory documentation may result in rejection of the manuscript.

Non-Compliance

If concerns arise regarding ethical approval, participant welfare, informed consent, or animal care, the journal will investigate the matter in accordance with COPE guidance and ICMJE Recommendations.

Where appropriate, the journal may:

  • Request clarification or additional documentation.
  • Suspend editorial processing.
  • Reject the manuscript.
  • Publish a correction, expression of concern, or retraction after publication if ethical violations are confirmed.

Commitment to Ethical Research

IJCSMR is committed to publishing research that respects the rights, dignity, safety, and welfare of human participants and animals. Authors are expected to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct and comply with all applicable institutional, national, and international regulations throughout the research and publication process.
